Finish, new starts, and NYC!

I finished my Crown Sampler!

1837 Crown Sampler by Plum Street Antiques
50/62ct unevenweave vintage lt. examplar line by Lakeside
Tudor Silk conversion from the Attic
This one was a pleasure to stitch.

I did change a couple of colors on the flower pots at the bottom, the two farthest out.  I needed some more color, so I used the bright red and blue instead of what was called for in the flowers.

I was a week behind on the new Fussy Cut Fridays from Temecula Quilt Company, so I made two stars to catch up (one star a week).  English Paper Piecing is so much fun!  (I used Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics from my stash for these two.)

And thanks to Deb of the Threadgatherer blog, I had the yarns to start the Wiggle Wrap!

I have a feeling this one will be about my speed.  Although I've heard it's been called the endless wrap.

Sunday, we got a surprise call from a certain girl we know.

And the next thing we knew, we were off to New York City!

We went to Brooklyn for a chocolate fix.

And ended up at a consignment shop down the street that had great bargains with great designer names.  (The boys went to a toy shop down the other direction so the boy child could pick up a Lego set on sale with his Christmas money.)

Bored boys waiting for the girls.

My haul -- an Eileen Fisher felted wool vest for $16!!  Sleeveless blouse $14, sneakers $18.  Love my color palette.  :D

Then we headed off for a tour of the famous work place.

Lego cafe, complete with Lego to play with.

Ladder for employees only, plus more Lego in the background.

The father type in his Noogler cap.  Which of course, he no longer is.

Then we headed off to Bareburger to have dinner.  So yummy!

Love that chandelier!

Then it was time to head home and say goodbye to the girl child.  We were tired but happy and full.

And a certain furry someone was very very happy to have us home again!

She and the boy child stayed in this position for a record amount of time.  lolol!

Thanks as always for stopping by and saying hi.  I hope everyone has a great week!

(Aussie Open!!!!  Hooray!!!!)

Congrats on the Crown Sampler! Beautiful! Love the colors.

What a fun time you had in NYC. I think those of us who live in the "burbs" often forget how much NY has to offer.

What an interesting post Margaret. I enjoyed tagging along on your trip - great fun. What is it with men and Lego, my son is just as bad. No post would be complete without Mia - she looks so content.

Congrats on the sampler finish.. it's a beauty!

You are so talented. Paper piecing always looks impossible to me and yet you think it's so much fun. Doesn't compute! ;-)

What a fun trip to the Big Apple. Boys and their Legos --- another great mystery to me!

Congratulations on your Crown Sampler finish! she looks magnificent! Sounds like you had a fun spontaneous day in the city. I am dying to go back to NY for some fun. You got some great finds from the secondhand shop.

I think it's funny to see DH in his Noogler hat. I just saw The Internship this Friday. Did you two see it? I thought it would be a snoozer but it was a great movie! I am so glad I saw it.

Big congratulations on finishing your Crown Sampler. It's really lovely and reminds me so much of Hannah Pepper.

Looks like you had a wonderful time in NY. Lovely photo of your daughter. She has grown into a really lovely young lady. I know that you are very proud of her and the Boy Child :).

Ohh I know that you have been eagerly waiting for the Australian Open. A lot of hot weather is coming their way. I think that it's going to be 42 degrees C today which converts to about 107 degrees F. Wednesday is going to be even hotter. The Hewitt/Rafter doubles game should be a good one.

Hi, Margaret,
Your crown sampler is lovely. Everything you do is gorgeous! I'm sure you know how blessed you are that your adult daughter wants to spend the day with you...poor Mia, she thought she was abandoned! If I go to the grocery store, my fur babies act like they are so traumatized!

I love English paper piecing. Thanks so much for the link to the fussy cut tutorial. I NEED to do this.

What a fun trip! Those surprise ones are the best ones I think. It was so fun to see your husbands workplace. It looks like he loves it, and I don't blame him. Who wouldn't love a Lego cafe? That is just cool!
Okay I think I am going to break down and do the Temecula Quilt Co. Star quilt with you. It's going to be amazing when it's finished! I have another paper piecing quilt going right now, so I'll have to ramp up my pace on it, and fit this one in.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh, and I can't forget, your finish is spectacular! I love it! Another beauty for your sampler wall.
